Helping Young People Thrive Through Community Inclusion
Every young person has a passion waiting to be discovered. It may begin with a love of painting, cooking, sewing, storytelling, technology, music or solving everyday problems. When that passion is recognised and supported, it can grow into confidence, practical skills, leadership and even a future enterprise.
At Be Different365 Foundation, we believe young people thrive when they are encouraged to explore their interests, learn through experience and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Our guiding message is simple:
«No One Is Better Than You.»
This does not mean that we all have the same abilities. It means that every person has value, potential and something important to contribute.
Passion Needs an Opportunity to Grow
Talent alone is not always enough. Young people also need safe spaces, positive role models, patient guidance and opportunities to practise.
A child who enjoys drawing could become an artist, designer or illustrator. A young person who loves cooking may develop into a chef, food entrepreneur or nutrition advocate. Someone interested in sewing could create clothing, accessories or a sustainable fashion brand.
The starting point may seem small, but every meaningful journey begins with an idea.
This was demonstrated through the development of TVI Store, founded by a 10-year-old participant with a passion for art, fashion and cooking. Through the Be Different365 Young Entrepreneurship Programme, her interests were nurtured into a growing enterprise.
TVI began as a young vision and developed into a collection of painted canvases, natural teas, rain art, bookmarks, handmade accessories, tote bags, pencil cases and African Ankara creations.
Her journey reminds us that children do not have to wait until adulthood to begin discovering their purpose.
Growth Mindset Turns Ideas into Action
A growth mindset teaches us that abilities can be strengthened through learning, effort, reflection and perseverance.
At Be Different365 Foundation, our growth mindset values help young people move from simply having an idea to taking practical steps towards achieving it.
Curiosity
Curiosity encourages young people to ask questions, explore possibilities and discover what genuinely interests them.
Instead of asking only, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” we can also ask:
- What do you enjoy creating?
- What problem would you like to solve?
- What would you like to learn?
- How could your talent help another person?
These questions allow young people to think beyond traditional career choices and begin recognising their individual strengths.
Creativity
Creativity is not limited to art. It is the ability to imagine, experiment and find new ways of doing things.
When children are given the freedom to create, they learn that their ideas matter. They become more willing to express themselves and more confident in developing original solutions.
Effort
Passion becomes meaningful when it is supported by consistent effort. Young people need to understand that success rarely happens immediately.
Products may need improvement. Presentations may need practice. Business ideas may change. Mistakes are not evidence of failure; they are part of the learning process.
Resilience
Resilience helps young people continue when something does not go according to plan.
A product may not sell immediately. An idea may receive criticism. A young person may feel nervous when speaking publicly. With encouragement and reflection, these experiences can strengthen rather than discourage them.
We teach young people to say:

Collaboration
Passion grows more effectively when people work together. Parents, carers, volunteers, teachers, businesses and community organisations all have a role in helping young people succeed.
Collaboration teaches children to listen, share responsibilities, respect different perspectives and celebrate the achievements of others.
Reflection
Reflection allows young people to consider what worked, what they learned and what they could improve next time.
It shifts the focus from seeking perfection to making progress.
Community Inclusion Gives Passion a Purpose
Community inclusion means ensuring that every person has an opportunity to participate, contribute and feel that they belong—regardless of age, ability, disability, culture, background or financial circumstances.
Young people should not only attend community activities; they should also help shape and lead them.
Through Be Different365 Foundation’s quarterly Community Business Market Fairs, young entrepreneurs can display their products, communicate with customers, practise money-management skills and contribute to community fundraising and outreach.
These experiences help young people understand that enterprise is not only about making money. It can also be used to:
- Solve community problems
- Celebrate culture and identity
- Create opportunities for others
- Support charitable activities
- Promote responsible consumption
- Strengthen relationships across generations
- Inspire other children to believe in themselves
When a community purchases a young person’s product, listens to their presentation or gives constructive feedback, it sends a powerful message: your ideas are valuable, and you belong here.
The Role of Parents and Carers
Parents and carers are often the first people to recognise a young person’s interests. Their encouragement can shape how confidently a child explores those interests.
Supporting passion development does not always require significant financial investment. It can begin by:
- Listening without immediately dismissing an idea
- Providing simple materials for experimentation
- Encouraging children to research their interests
- Helping them set realistic goals
- Allowing them to make age-appropriate decisions
- Praising effort, improvement and responsibility
- Connecting them with mentors and community programmes
- Teaching them to balance their passion with education and wellbeing
Children need guidance, but they also need space to think, create and take ownership of their journey.
Building Responsible Young Leaders
At Be Different365 Foundation, we give young people opportunities to lead because leadership develops through participation.
Enterprise activities can teach young people:

Schools, local businesses, charities, councils and community leaders can support young people by offering mentoring, work experience, exhibition spaces, workshops and platforms where their voices can be heard.
We must also ensure that children and young people with disabilities, learning differences or additional needs are fully included. Their talents should be recognised, their communication needs respected and their participation supported.
Inclusion is not simply inviting someone into a space. It is creating the conditions that allow them to belong, contribute and succeed.

TVI Store represents more than a collection of products. It is evidence of what can happen when a young person’s passion is met with encouragement, practical learning and community support.
The journey from an idea to an enterprise may involve mistakes, uncertainty and change. However, every step helps a young person understand what they can achieve.
